The Balearic Islands is a Spanish archipelago famous for its beautiful beaches. Indeed, it is one of the best places to go swimming and scuba diving. These are not the only activities available on the islands, though. In fact, you should be able to find plenty of fun and interesting things to do while spending your holidays in the Balearic Islands.

For starters, you can head out to the Mondrago Natural Park on the island of Majorca (or Mallorca in Catalan), which is the largest of the Balearic Islands. Established in 1992, the park is a perfect place for birdwatching, particularly since it is home to many protected species of migratory birds. It is also a great place to have a walk because of its various stunning landscapes and its wide variety of orchids.

While in Majorca, you can also tour many other attractions. These include gothic castles such as the Capdepera Castle and the Bellver Castle, which also houses the Palma History Museum; religious buildings such as the Royal Monastery of Valldemossa and the Palma Cathedral; and interesting museums like the Can Planes Museum and the Marti Vicenc Museum.

The island of Minorca is equally interesting, and is especially a haven for horse lovers. This is because horses are a big part of the history and culture of Minorca. In fact, horse shows and horse races are popular island pastimes so make sure you catch the purebred black Menorcan horses perform their unique style of dressage at the Ganaderia Son Martorellet or the Club Escola Menorquina during your holidays in the Balearic Islands.

You can also get a glimpse of some archaeological treasures in Minorca. Indeed, Minorca has several prehistoric settlements such as the settlement of Talat de Dalt, the settlement of Torre Llafuda and the Trepuco settlement - all known for their talayotic structures.

The most impressive megalithic tomb in the Balearic Islands can be found on the island of Formentera, though, which is the smallest and southernmost island. This is the tomb of Ca na Costa, a collective burial tomb dating back to the Bronze Age, and a must-see attraction for your holidays in the Balearic Islands. While in Formentera, you can go cycling, too, while enjoying breathtaking views.

Last but not the least, you can go clubbing in Ibiza, an island known throughout the world for its nightlife, as well as for being one of the places rumored to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. The most famous club on the island is Privilege, while other notable ones include Eden, Es Paradis, Amnesia and Space. If you’re not a party-goer, there are many concerts and theatrical productions you can catch in Ibiza, too.

Indeed, there are many sights to see and many ways to have fun during your holidays in the Balearic Islands, so don’t just stop at exploring Spain. Make sure you pay these wonderful islands a visit, too. It’s a choice you surely won’t regret.
